disclose (verb) reveal

When you disclose a secret, you make others know of it. You have to disclose your income to the tax authorities, that is, you have to show them your income and the sources of it. If a person refuses to disclose any information, he does not agree to give the information to the others. It is often said that men do not like to disclose their earnings, and women, their age. That is, they don't like to let others know them.

  • The police are unwilling to disclose the names of the persons they have interviewed because they are afraid that those interviewed might be influenced to change their stand.
  • We know that the two companies are merging, but we do not know the terms of their merger, because neither is prepared to disclose them.
