discord (noun) (music) two or more musical instruments playing different tunes producing an unpleasant effect; (people) quarreling; lacking unity and understanding.
The instruments in an orchestra not playing in unison produce discord. Such a bad combination of sounds is discord. A lack of friendliness or understanding among people is discord. Discord among people is none of them agreeing or being friendly with the other. They quarrel among themselves if there is discord among them.
