When something doesn’t go your way, you are disgruntled; that is, you are discontented and upset. Your disappointment makes you disgruntled, that is, it leaves you dissatisfied and unhappy. When you feel you have not got what you deserve, you are disgruntled. Employees whose demands are not met are disgruntled. They are unhappy.

  • The old man is disgruntled by the numerous failures and disappointments in his life, and it makes him rather bitter and complaining.
  • The workers are disgruntled by the delay in receiving the bonus and other incentives due to them, and they are in a nasty mood.
