disparate (adj) (of a set of things or people) totally different from one another or unconnected.

A disparate group of people is a group consisting of people of different types. They are of different natures, behaviors, and attitudes. A set of things which are totally different from one another constitute a disparate set. The temptation of gold brings together a disparate group of people on their hunt for gold, in the movie, 'McKenna's Gold.' The group includes gangsters and godmen, the villainous and the virtuous, the young and the old.

  • The management of the company formed a committee, with members from disparate departments, to formulate an action plan to look into the crisis facing the company.
  • The boy and the girl were from two disparate cultures, and as their elders did not approve of their marriage, they eloped and got married.
