disport (verb) amuse (oneself).

When you do something actively to amuse yourself, you disport yourself. 'The picnickers disported themselves on the riverside by playing the blind man's buff.' This means that they amused themselves by playing the game. People disport themselves with activities like treasure hunt, etc., during their leisure.

  • The children disported themselves during the vacation by collecting the feathers of various birds in the woods nearby, and because of this, their vacation passed off very quickly without a dull moment.
  • Henry in the absence of his friends and any entertaining company had nothing to disport himself with. He spent the time reading.
