A person dissembles if they pretend. When you hide your real feelings, ideas, desires, etc., and put on a false expression you dissemble. You dissemble interest in something, when you appear to be interested in it, without being really interested in it. You dissemble sorrow when without feeling real sorrow, you seem to be sorrowful.
