divulge (verb) reveal (a secret).
You divulge what is supposed to be a secret, when you reveal it to others. When a person refuses to tell others of the suspects in a theft, knowing who they are, he/she refuses to divulge it.
- He knows who has stolen the money, but does not want to divulge it, because he is threatened with serious consequences if their names are leaked out.
- In the police interrogation, Clara broke down and divulged the secret that she had forged the document to draw money from the bank.
