doctrine (noun) a set of religious, political, etc., principles and beliefs.

A set of religious and political beliefs followed, taught, and spread is a doctrine. The Christian doctrine is the set of beliefs held and taught by the church, as for example, that Sundays should be spent on prayers. A political doctrine is a political theory. For example, the doctrine of equality of opportunity for all is the theory that all should have equal opportunities.

  • According to Christian doctrine, it is a sin to worship God in any form, human or animal. This is a principle every Christian ought to follow.
  • The free world countries hold the doctrine that individual liberty should be ensured at all costs, and to protect it, the constitutions of all democratic countries provide for safeguards of it.
