When food supply dwindles it is reduced gradually and ends altogether. A person's health dwindles, if it worsens day by day. The army dwindles if it loses more and more number of soldiers day by day. The size of a thing dwindles if it shrinks.

  • The open-air concert of the hard rock band was supposed to attract some 10000 audience, but as the concert progressed, the audiences dwindled because it was not as good as had been expected, and in the end, only a quarter of the hall was occupied.
  • The chances of the home team winning the soccer match dwindled when the visiting team scored three goals to nil in the first half itself.
