eddy (noun) a whirl of water, wind, dust, etc..
The movement of wind, water, or dust in a circular form is an eddy. Two opposite streams flowing into one another form an eddy, in which the water moves circularly in a downward spiral. So is it with wind, when there is a windstorm. We then experience a circular motion of the wind. If you are caught in an eddy of water, you are sucked down. In deserts where there are dust storms, we find eddies of dust.
