egoism (noun) a feeling of self-importance; conceit.

Your egoism is seen in your thinking that you are better and more important than others; that you are correct and the others are not. Your egoism makes you talk always about yourself, your achievements, etc., in your speech or writing. You are too interested in yourself.

  • Jennifer's egoism was so strong that she would not let her sister Clara express her opinions on any matter. She would not even let her parents treat them equally, and insists that she be given more importance. She is too sure of being correct and feels very important.
  • Smith: Who is Gerry most fond of? Sam: Well, he is an egoist, you know. Smith: That is? Smith: He is fond only of himself and selfish.
