embed (verb) fix something firmly into an object; a fixed feeling or belief.

Lenses or glass plates are usually embedded in plaster of Paris sheets so that they are safe there. A bullet is embedded in a personís body if it is fixed in it and has to be removed by surgery. Pieces of stone are embedded in a block of ice if they are fixed in it. When you believe something firmly or you have a strong feeling, the belief or the feeling is embedded in you.

  • The adventurers found the map of the treasure island embedded in the statue of Adonis made of plaster of Paris.
  • The concept that the Earth was flat was deeply embedded in the thinking of the people and surprisingly in the explorers too of the 17th century.
