encomiastic (adj) praising; eulogistic.

Encomiastic remarks are remarks of praise for someone. An encomiastic piece of writing or speech praises personís glory or achievements. Longfellow in his poetry was encomiastic about President Lincoln. That is, Longfellow wrote poetry in praise of Lincoln.

  • His encomiastic speech about the achievements of his country reflected his narrow minded approach to issues like patriotism.
  • Parentsí encomiastic approach to their children, praising them too much for every thing, may give the children too high an idea of themselves, and spoil them.
