A drink energizes you if after taking it, you feel more active and enthusiastic. Exercise energizes people because people after doing exercise feel fitter and stronger. The message of a great leader energizes a nation if it makes the nation rise to action from its state of inactivity. To supply electric power to a machine is to energize it. To send electric power through cables after laying them is to energize them.

  • The old man still feels fit because the long walks he takes in the mornings energize him and keep him active throughout the day.
