entity (noun) a thing that exists separately and has its own identity.

The soul and the body are separate entities; that is, either of them is separate from the other, and each has its own identity. Though run as independent organizations, the social, economic and cultural organizations of the UN have no separate entity. That is, they are parts of the UN and once the UN ceases to be they have no existence of their own. That is, they have no separate entity of their own. They cannot exist independently.

  • The head and the heart are to be seen as separate entities, but a harmony between the two is very desirable, as an intellect without feelings can be demoniac.
  • The legislative wing of the ruling party as the government, and the party as a political organization, must be viewed as tow different entities. The legislative wing of the party is accountable to the public and not to the party as an organization.
