ephemeral (adj) short lived; lasting only for a short time, a day.

Nothing lasts in the world; every thing is ephemeral-human life, comforts, etc. That is, these things are purely temporary. The value of an ad in the daily is ephemeral, that is, lasting just one day. Therefore it is ephemeral. So are the leaflets, handbills, etc., ephemeral as the matter in them stay in our memory for just a day. Fashions change by the hour, so they are ephemeral.

  • Either knew that their relationship was going to be ephemeral, for neither felt a lasting emotion for the other. They were there just to satisfy the passion of the minute.
  • Sam felt it a waste to spend so much on the frock his wife Nell was buying. Fashions being ephemeral, Nell, he was sure, would not use it for more than a few weeks.
