extradition (noun) return of an accused person to the country in which they face charges.

The extradition of a person takes place when a country officially sends them back to the country where they are wanted for a crime. Handing over of a person by one country to another where they have committed a crime is extradition.

  • India could not get the extradition of some of the terrorists seeking shelter in other countries because India has no extradition treaty with those counties.
  • The English man moved the court against his extradition to England on the ground that he was not now a native of England and that by the time the crime was committed he had become a US citizen.
