fatalism (noun) belief in fate controlling human life.
The belief that events in this world are decided by fate and that nothing lies in our hands is fatalism. The belief that something is bound to happen if it has to happen and that we cannot prevent it is fatalism. There is invisible force controlling our lives, and there is nothing we can do to change it - this kind of belief is fatalism.
- Fatalism or the theory of Karma, as it is called in Sanskrit, is an important aspect of Hindu religion and Hindu philosophy, and it implies that what you are in this life is determined by what you did in your previous births.
- Complete belief in fatalism robs you off your initiative. When you believe that fate decides everything, you feel that your attempts to do a good thing or stop a bad thing are no use and that results in a passive acceptance of things.
