faze (verb) unnerve; embarrass.
When a situation confuses and shocks a person, it fazes them. When a person is not fazed by someone's comments they are not confused, they are not shocked, and they stay clearheaded, though the comments are shocking. A crisis could faze you, that is a dangerous or a bad situation can shock and confuse you.
- He is so very clearheaded and is so balanced that the things which upset others can never faze him.
- He remained clearheaded and the questions he faced in the enquiry against him did not in the least faze him.
