fidelity (noun) loyalty; accuracy of reproduction.

The fidelity of a person to their principles is their loyalty, their being faithful, to their principles. A person's fidelity to duty is their devotion to duty. Your fidelity to your religion is your following it with all faith. Fidelity in marriage is the wife and the husband being faithful to each other, and having no sex with others. The fidelity of a movie to a novel it is based on is the movie not deviating at all from the novel. The fidelity in sound recording is the accurate reproduction of sound.

  • Fidelity between a wife and a husband is important for a happy and meaningful married life. Neither the wife nor the husband should act in any way that may cause doubts in either about the other's character.
  • Sophisticated electronic devices achieve marvelous fidelity in sound reproduction. Modern digital sound systems reproduce natural sounds very accurately.
