finite (adj) having an end or a limit; limited or fixed in size, duration, etc..

The finite options in a situation are the limited number of choices. When you have to choose from just two or three options, none of them no better or worse than the others, your choice is finite. The world's petroleum resources are finite, that is, they are not endless and will be soon exhausted. A human being's existence in this world is finite, as they do not live on and on but have to die some day or the other.

  • Human beings' mental ability to acquire knowledge is finite and their lifetime is too short to master knowledge, which is infinite.
  • With my finite resources, I cannot think of starting any business which requires a large capital, unless I can get a big loan at a low rate of interest.
