flamboyant (adj) (of behavior, dress, etc.) confident and different from others; (of clothes, designs, etc.) noticeable, bright, and too colorful.

A flamboyant person attracts other's attention by behaving in a different way from the normal. A person has a flamboyant style if his style, rather unusual, attracts the attention of others. A flamboyant gesture is a movement of your head and hand to attract other's attention. Your clothes are flamboyant if they are gaudy. The architecture of a building is flamboyant if it is too ornate, that is, too decorative with highly intricate designs.

  • The matinee idol, the most popular actor, arrived as had been expected, in flamboyant clothes. He had around his neck a deep red scarf, and was wearing a green pair of trousers and a blue striped shirt.
  • The flamboyant architecture of the old building had a number of beautiful minarets and intricately carved doors.
