foible (noun) a slight weakness in one's character or silly habit.
A foible is slight enough to be overlooked and tolerated. A foible is not a serious defect deserving a punishment. It is considered part of the erring nature of a human being. For example, talkativeness is a foible, because it is not a harmful defect and can be tolerated. The habit of making out of place comments which some persons make, if not harmful, is a foible.
- No person is free from weaknesses, and with large-heatedness we should tolerate their foibles.
- Foibles are too slight to be viewed seriously. For they are among defects common to most human beings.
