fulminate (verb) shout in anger at someone.

When you fulminate you shout at someone in anger. You explode in anger, or you speak loudly or angrily at someone. The chairman of a company may fulminate at the executives if the profits fall. That is, he may burst out in anger at them.

  • When he saw that the car had been totally damaged, he fulminated against the driver for his carelessness. The angry way he shouted at the driver left the driver no chance to explain.
  • For the undesirable consequences of the contract he had signed, he fulminated against his attorney, alleging that he had misled him. His shouts drew the attention of everyone around.
