When children gambol they jump or skip about in a lively manner enjoying themselves. So do lambs and pups gambol when they jump about and play. Children like to gambol when they are in a playful mood; that is, they frisk and jump merrily when they are in a mood to enjoy play.

  • It delighted the mother greatly to see her child gambol again after days of illness during which it lay dully in bed. Though still weak, the child was active.
  • The pups gamboled with their master, jumping about his feet and skipping around the place, as though inviting him to play with them.
