gawk (verb) stare stupidly or rudely.
A person gawks at something if they look steadily at it stupidly or rudely as it is considered ill-mannered. When you look at, say a young couple kissing, you gawk at them. It is bad manners to stare at such scenes. A stranger in a city may gawk at the sights there which appear new to them. Gawking at a beautiful woman is rude.
- The young boy gawked as he chanced upon the half-naked couple in their bedroom, the door of which they carelessly left open.
