generality (noun) (usually plural) vague statements.
You indulge in generalities when you make vague statements about a situation, incident, etc., without giving specific details about it. Generalities are rather general observations which do not refer to particular incidents or happenings. When you talk in general about malpractices in trade without mentioning specifically the companies and the occasions on which the companies resorted to malpractices, you make generalities.
- As usual, his was a long and boring speech which was full of generalities about the falling standards of political behavior and ethics, without a mention of specific cases of political impropriety.
