glut (verb) to fill beyond capacity.
When a market is glutted with some commodity, there is an excess supply of it, more than the demand for it, and consequently the prices are likely to fall. Sometimes when the workers want to protest, they overwork, there is overproduction, and the market is glutted. That is, it has an oversupply of the commodity. The market is glutted with foreign cars if too many foreign cars are available in the market.
- The farmers are worried that they may not get good price for their crop, as the market is glutted with grain. They are afraid of a fall in prices because of the surplus of grain.
- The liberalization of the imports has glutted the home market with foreign products and the traders are worried that the demand for the home products may fall.
