A glutinous substance is a sticky substance. Sugar syrup is glutinous because it is sticky and viscous. When rubber melts it becomes glutinous. Most resins are glutinous, that is, they are sticky.

  • A number of plants ooze glutinous substances which when hardened on exposure to weather are used in various industries.
  • Some glutinous substances stick so fast to your fingers that if you try to remove them your skin comes off.
