When a person gives you something that satisfies you or pleases you, he gratifies you. The thing he has given gratifies you. You are gratified when your desires are satisfied. You are gratified by others' appreciation of your work, that is, their appreciation satisfies you. If it gratifies you to see that others have accepted your invitation, it satisfies you.
