grievance (noun) cause for complaint.

You have a grievance if you feel that injustice has been done to you. You have a grievance against someone if you feel that they have treated you unfairly. You feel that you have a reason for complaining when you have a grievance.

  • The grievance of the employees against the management is that the management has not taken steps to implement the health insurance scheme. They have waited enough, they say, and have served a strike notice.
  • There is a special cell in the company to deal with employee grievances. As soon as any grievance is brought to its notice, it is immediately attended to, so the company enjoys good industrial peace.
