hostility (noun) feeling of enmity.

If there is hostility between two people or groups of people there is enmity and hatred between them. When two persons or groups of people have hatred for each other there is hostility between them. Hostility to a plan, idea or proposal is a strong opposition to, and dislike of it.

  • There is always hostility to the increase of taxes, whatever the grounds, because no one likes to lose his earnings to taxes.
  • The US and the UK forces met with strong hostility from the Iraqis who were totally against the presence of foreign forces on their soil.
