humid (adj) (of climate/whether) warm and damp.

A place is humid if the whether or the climate there is warm and damp and makes you feel very uncomfortable. In a humid climate you feel uncomfortable because it is warm and makes you sweat a lot. Seaside areas are humid, as the air there is very damp. A humid climate, because of its warmth and dampness, causes prickly heat and sweat.

  • Paddy thrives very well in a tropical humid climate. The high temperature and the seasonal rainfall in such a climate are favorable for the growth of paddy.
  • The coastal areas of tropical regions have a humid climate, and air conditioning is a big comfort in such places as it provides the needed relief from the heat and sweat.
