When you have an illusion about some person, or a situation, you have a wrong idea or belief about them. You are under the illusion that someone will help you if you believe wrongly that they will help you. You are going to be disappointed if you are under such an illusion. You are under an illusion about yourself if you have false impressions of your own greatness, abilities, etc..
