impetuous (adj) rash and impulsive.

When you are impetuous, you act rashly without any thought of the consequences which are most likely to be bad and which may make you regret your actions. Impetuous decisions are decisions taken without careful thinking of the consequences. Impetuous actions are rash and are soon done, and sooner repented.

  • The impetuous Mary took the decision to marry Harris much against her parents' will. She regretted her decision later when it turned out that she had married a severe drug addict.
  • Paul's decision to invest all his money in real estate business was an impetuous one. The prices of real estate appreciating till then took a sudden dip and Paul sustained a sudden and heavy loss.
