importune (verb) ask for something very earnestly and eagerly; beg.
When you importune others for something, you keep asking for it repeatedly in a way that annoys them. You go on asking them again and again for it until they are irritated. You almost beg them for a thing when you importunate them for a thing.
- A group of people claiming themselves to be social workers importuned Herman for funds for starting an old age home. He was so vexed with their repeatedly asking for it, that he himself started the old age home.
