To throw an incendiary is to throw a firebomb or a bomb designed to cause a fire by exploding. Incendiaries are mostly used by terrorists to cause destruction and create unrest. An incendiary is also a person who causes a fire to disturb the peace in an area by striking terror in the hearts of the people there by causing a fire to destroy lives and property. A person who causes a riot or disturbances of such kind is an incendiary. They may do so by their speeches and writings.

  • A destructive fire engulfed the whole area because of an incendiary placed near an electronic transformer by antisocial characters.
  • The police have accused the prisoner of being an incendiary. They hold him responsible for causing the fire that destroyed the supermarket in the crowded locality at the center of the city.
