The incline of a road is its slope upwards or downwards. The incline of a mountain is the slope up a mountain. A steep incline is a high grade slope up a mountain, a ramp, a road, etc., going up which is difficult.
- The bullocks pulling the cart had to strain themselves a lot to pull the loaded cart up the incline, as the slope was rather steep.
- The slope up the hill was quite steep. The climbers, however, climbed up the incline in less time than they had taken in their previous attempt.
