incredulous (adj) unwilling or unable to believe.

An incredulous look is a look of suspicion or doubt a person has when they do not believe something. You are incredulous of a person’s achievement if you cannot believe they have achieved something. An incredulous laugh is the way a person laughs when they do not believe your words. If some one told you that God had spoken to them you would be incredulous, that is, you refuse to believe it.

  • “Me winning a lottery! Don’t joke,” she said incredulous that she had won the lottery, when I told her of it. She was unable to believe that she could be so lucky.
  • Jonathan was incredulous of his being selected to lead the team in the next tournament. That was the last thing he had expected to be possible.
