inculcate (verb) teach effectively (values, morals, beliefs, etc.).

When you inculcate principles, values, beliefs in some one, you teach them to a person or persons so effectively that the values, etc., are fixed firmly in their mind, and they donít forget them. When you inculcate someone with discipline you make them learn it effectively enough so that they stay disciplined.

  • The school tries to inculcate in its pupils values like courage, honesty, patriotism, etc. In addition to learning the subjects, the pupils have to attend classes in personality development.
