inexorable (adj) (of a process) relentless.

A thing that is inexorable is a thing that cannot be stopped or reversed. That is, it is relentless. The passage of time, for example, is inexorable. That is, no one can stop the march of time. The inexorable rise in prices is the unstoppable rise in prices. Automation of industry is inexorable, that is, automation of industry is something none can stop.

  • By the later half of the twentieth century it was clear that the fall of the British imperialism was inexorable. The decline had started and noting was going to stop it.
  • With the expansion of international trade and the development of communications and transport, Globalization was inexorable. Global transactions on a large scale have certainly hit the indigenous industry.
