innate (adj) inborn.

A quality you are born with is innate in you. Your innate ability to sing is your ability you have acquired by birth to sing. Anything natural to person, that is, anything forming part of the nature of a person, is innate in them. A personís innate talent for acting is their inborn ability for acting. An innate quality cannot be easily changed, much less got rid off. When we talk of the innate ability of a dog for scent we mean the dogís ability for scent which it gets by birth, and which forms a part of its nature.

  • The desire for service must have been innate in people like Florence Nightingale and Mother Theresa. That alone explains their dedicating their lives to service at very young ages. They must have been born with the motive of service.
  • The innate talent for mathematics that the famous Indian mathematician Ramanujan had was discovered by Prof hardy of Cambridge University. The papers that Ramanujan had sent him convinced him that here was a genius with an inborn talent for mathematics.
