When you use an innuendo against a person or a thing, you make an indirect remark about something bad or rude in the person or the thing. An indirect reference to a bad aspect of a person's behavior or character is an innuendo. Innuendos are meant to embarrass or insult a person. It is of course bad manners to refer indirectly to a person's bad conduct by innuendos.
