introspective (adj) self-examining.

An introspective person tends to think a lot of their own thoughts, feelings, attitudes, etc.. When you are introspective you tend to look inwards into yourself, examine your thoughts, your position with respect to others, etc.. You indulge in a kind of soul searching.

  • As time went on, Jeremy turned rather withdrawn, as he became introspective. He would spend most of his time alone, thinking of his problems and worries.
  • Most of Wordsworth's poetry is introspective. It reflects his deeper thoughts about his relations with nature and society.
