intuition (noun) ability to understand by feeling rather than by using facts or reasoning.
The ability to understand things without using your thinking but by means of your feelings is intuition. The idea or the feeling that something is true without your knowing why it is true is intuition. Sometimes it so happens that we imagine the right thing without considering facts or using logic. We ourselves do not know how we prove to be correct, but we happen to be correct. This ability is intuition. A thing so guessed is also intuition.
- Though he was denying that he was involved in the crime, the police officer had the intuition that he was lying. Later, the examination of the evidence proved the police officer right.
- On entering the room he had the intuition that something was wrong, and indeed the safe had been broken open and all the ornaments were gone.
