irate (adj) extremely angry.

When you are irate, you are extremely angry because you feel you have been treated unjustly or unfairly. An irate customer is a customer who is very angry because he feels cheated. When you offend someone by your remarks they become irate, that is, extremely angry.

  • When the management refused even to discuss a wage rise with the workers, the irate workers, in their anger, damaged some of the furniture in the office.
  • When the leader made provocative remarks, the irate audience shouted him down. Nothing that the speaker said later, nor even his apologies could reduce their anger.
