juncture (noun) a particular point/stage in an activity, period of time or series of activities.

“At this juncture,” means at this point of time or at this stage in an activity or series of events. A battle reaches a critical juncture if it is at a stage where the result is decided.

  • A crucial juncture in the development of science is the discovery of nuclear energy and the invention of the computer. Both the important developments mark a definite stage in the development of technology.
  • When opinion was equally divided in the party meeting about the candidate for the president’s office, the secretary of the party stood up and said he wished to announce something at that juncture.
