laggard (adj) slow and lazy.

A person is laggard if they are slow and lazy. Laggard students can never get high grades; that is, lazy and slow students can never get high grades. A laggard company can never earn profits; that is, a company which is slow and not active cannot earn profits.

  • The laggard salesman was not able to reach the targets set for him by the company. He was rather lazy and slow and that cost him his job.
  • The laggard Jim is the opposite of his younger brother. While Jim is lazy his brother is quite active and hardworking.
