When someone manipulates your opinion they influence you or control you in a dishonest way and without your realizing it. Politicians often manipulate public opinion. That is, they influence the thinking of the public in a clever and dishonest way and without the public realizing it. Manipulation is changing something cleverly and dishonestly for selfish gains.

  • Tom is very good at manipulating others. He is very good at changing the opinion of others in his favor, though by dishonest methods and lies.
  • By twisting and distorting facts, the candidate manipulated the voters’ opinion and managed to win by a narrow majority.
