A large building holding the dead body of a great person or built over their grave is a mausoleum. The famous Taj Mahal in Agra, India, one of the seven wonders of the world is a mausoleum because it was built over the tomb of the king's beloved.

  • Egypt is full of mausoleums. The emperors of ancient Egypt had structures built even during their lifetime to hold their dead bodies or tombs.
  • The Taj Mahal is the mausoleum built over the tomb of Mumtaj Mahal, the beloved consort of the emperor.
